CHRISTMAS DOUBLE HEADER - FRIDAY 20TH DECEMBER 2o25
π THE BARN LIVE DOUBLE HEADER – SATURDAY 20TH DECEMBER! π
Bands: Rise + 1982
Cost: FREE
Doors: 7pm | Bands from after 8 ‘til late
If you’ve been looking for a sign that the festive season has officially begun, look no further: The Barn is firing up the fairy lights, polishing the tinsel, and preparing the stage for a very merry double-header this Saturday, 20th December! And the best part? It’ll cost you absolutely nothing—just bring yourself, your mates, and your finest questionable Christmas jumper. The bands will take care of the rest.
This year’s festive feast of live music features Rise and 1982, two crowd-pleasing, beer-raising, pub-rock powerhouses ready to blast away the December chill. Think of them as the musical equivalent of mulled wine—but stronger, louder, and far more likely to make you attempt a dance move you’ll regret on Monday.
π SANTA APPROVED: WHAT TO EXPECT
Doors swing open at 7pm, which gives you a solid hour to get inside, get warm, get a drink, and mentally prepare for whatever you call “dancing.” The bands will hit the stage after 8pm, and then it’s full-steam ahead until late—possibly even later than late, depending on how generous the night feels.
Now, because it is Christmas, we can’t guarantee you won’t hear a carol or two. In fact, let’s be honest, there’s at least a 93% chance someone will attempt a rock-and-roll version of “Silent Night.” Whether it’ll be musically accurate or loosely in the key of “festive enthusiasm” remains to be seen. But fear not! The setlists will be packed with the usual pub-rock bangers, classic anthems, singalongs, and foot-stompers you know and love. The carols are just sprinkled in like cinnamon on a latte—festive, funny, and only mildly chaotic.
π ABOUT THE BANDS
π RISE
Rise don’t just play music—they ignite the room. Expect gritty guitar riffs, driving rhythms, and enough energy to power Santa’s sleigh without the help of reindeer. These guys are seasoned live performers who know how to turn a Saturday night into a celebration. Rumour has it they’ve been rehearsing a Christmas number, but we can neither confirm nor deny whether it involves a power-ballad version of “Jingle Bell Rock.” We can confirm, however, that they’ll be bringing the heat, the noise, and possibly a festive hat someone forced them to wear.
π 1982
Named after the greatest year, the greatest music era, or simply the year with the best haircuts (depending on who you ask), 1982 are veterans of the pub-rock circuit. Expect tight grooves, soaring vocals, and lots of nostalgic nods to the golden age of rock. They’ve hinted they may try out a “rocked-up carol,” but we’re imagining something along the lines of “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” sung with the intensity of a guitarist who lost a plectrum mid-solo. Whatever they deliver, it’ll be loud, lively, and guaranteed to get you singing along—even if you only remember half the lyrics.
βοΈ THE BARN AT CHRISTMAS: A UNIQUE FESTIVE EXPERIENCE
If you’ve never been to The Barn during December, you’re in for a treat. The place transforms into the kind of winter wonderland only a pub can create: a mix of twinkling lights, questionable Christmas décor from the 90s, and at least one inflatable Santa who looks like he’s had a long day. The bar staff will be in good spirits (and serving them), the atmosphere will be warm and buzzing, and the dance area will be ready for whatever festive footwork you bring.
Pro tip: glittery wrapping-paper trousers seem like a good idea until you try sitting down. Dress responsibly.
π FREE ENTRY – THE BEST GIFT OF ALL
Yes, you read that right. It’s FREE ENTRY. Not “free if you bring a ticket,” not “free before 8pm,” not “free if you're dressed as a reindeer.” No tricks, no gimmicks—just good live music at the best price possible.
Think of it as The Barn’s way of giving you a Christmas present without the awkward moment where you realise you didn’t buy them anything in return.
π€ CAROLS, CHAOS & CHRISTMAS CHEER
Will Rise and 1982 perform a heartfelt, goosebump-inducing Christmas carol together?
Possibly.
Will they hit every note?
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
Will you have one of the best nights of the festive season, with great music, great company, and possibly a stranger screaming “FA-LA-LA-LA-LAAAAA!” in your ear?
Absolutely.
β JOIN US SATURDAY 20TH DECEMBER
Whether you’re blowing off steam before the holiday madness, celebrating the end of the work year, or simply avoiding wrapping presents, The Barn is the place to be this Saturday. Bring your friends, bring your festive cheer, and bring your singing voice—even if it’s only for that one moment when someone decides to play “Merry Christmas Everybody” and suddenly everyone in the building becomes part of the choir.
So mark it in your calendar, set an alarm, or tie a bauble to your wrist as a reminder:
